To enable construction on the Charterholme eastern access to remain on schedule, further overnight working on the Tritton Road and Dixon Street junction will be carried out.
The next phase of overnight works will take place from 19 May 2025 to 22 May 2025 from 8pm in the evening until 6am the following morning and again on 27 and 28 May 2025 for resurfacing works between the same hours.
This major infrastructure project includes the construction of a new vehicular bridge over the railway and significant road improvements along Tritton Road.
Recent progress includes the continuation of the bridge construction and the commencement of the works on Tritton Road, which has also seen the new footpath open to pedestrians in the last few weeks.
Contractors, GRAHAM, are continuing to carry out essential works to install new traffic signals at the Dixon Street/Tritton Road junction, which includes necessary civil works.
This phase will require full traffic management, including temporary traffic lights, to ensure the work is completed as quickly and safely as possible.
These works started on 22 April 2025 and are expected to take place over a three-month period, ending in August.
A minor diversion will be in place, and full site signage to guide road users.
Advance warning notices have been displayed on the road network from Friday, 9 May 2025, informing road users of upcoming temporary traffic measures. Access to businesses, including for deliveries, will be maintained.
As the project progresses, additional night-time work and diversions will be required. Further details, including routes and dates, will be shared in due course.

To minimise the impact, GRAHAM have worked closely with Lincolnshire County Council and National Highways to carefully coordinate the schedule, including daytime lane closures, overnight working, and temporary traffic measures. These have all been planned to keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible throughout the project.
“The council and our contractors appreciate the continued support from residents and businesses during this time, and once complete, there will be new upgraded traffic signals to the Tritton Road/Dixon St junction, which will provide improved safety for all road users.”
GRAHAM have worked closely with Lincolnshire County Council to agree the daytime lane closures, night-time road closures, diversion routes, and pedestrian management plans. Other key stakeholders, including Stagecoach, local police, emergency services, and refuse collection services, have also been informed.
All contractors are committed to minimising disruption to road users and pedestrians and will endeavour to complete the works as efficiently as possible.
