Recent progress includes the installation of the bridge beams, including the permanent formwork and bracing over the last two weeks and the near completion of the new footpath along Tritton Road, which will soon be open to pedestrians.
As part of the next phase, contractors GRAHAM will be carrying out essential works to install new traffic signals at the Dixon Street/Tritton Road junction.
This phase will require full traffic management, including temporary traffic lights to ensure the work is completed as quickly and safely as possible.
In total, these works are expected to take place over a three-month period, starting Tuesday, 22 April 2025 and ending in August.
To allow these works to take place with as minimal disruption as possible, there will be some overnight working. The first overnight works will take place from 22 April 2025 to 25 April 2025, from 8pm in the evening until 6am the following morning, at the junction of Tritton Road and Valentine Road. Access to and from this junction will remain open, with a minor diversion in place and full site signage to guide road users.
Advance warning notices will be displayed on the road network from Friday, 4 April 2025, informing road users of upcoming temporary traffic measures. There will be no disruption to local businesses and their access for deliveries will not be affected.
As the project progresses, additional night-time work and diversions will be required. Further details, including routes and dates, will be shared in due course.
Maria Clayton, Project Manager at City of Lincoln Council, said: “We understand that these works may create some disruption on the highway, and our contractors have co-ordinated the works with the local highway authority and Highways England in a way to cause the least amount of disruption to the road network to keep traffic moving.
“The council and our contractors John Graham Construction appreciate the continued support from residents and businesses during this time and once complete there will be new upgraded traffic signals to the Tritton Road/Dixon St junction which will provide improved safety for all road users.”
Graham’s have worked closely with Lincolnshire County Council and National Highways, which have approved the daytime lane closures, night-time road closures, diversion routes, and pedestrian management plans. Other key stakeholders, including Stagecoach, local police, emergency services, and refuse collection services, have also been informed.
All contractors are committed to minimising disruption to road users and pedestrians and will endeavour to complete the works as efficiently as possible.
